Entrepreneur and Investor Visa Extensions
- In March 2019 the UK Government closed the Tier 1 Investor category and Tier 1 Entrepreneur category. Although you might still be able to extend your visas under these categories.
- To extend under the Tier 1 Entrepreneur category an applicant will need to meet the following conditions:
- You must be listed as a director of a UK company or you are registered as self-employed within 6 months of arriving in the UK
- You must demonstrate that you are self-employed, a partner in a partnership, or working as a director of a business 3 months before you submit an application
- Have invested at least £200,000 in one or more businesses in the UK
- You should have generated jobs in the UK
- You need to provide a summary of your company's endeavours, aspects of your role, and the work titles and job descriptions for your employees
- Any dependents can be included on your application to extend.
Tier 1 Investor visa approved between 6 November 2014 and 28 March 2019
If you applied for Tier 1 Investor visa between 6 November 2014 and 28 March 2019, you might be able to submit an application for extension if the following apply: You invested £2 million or more in a UK company through share capital, Government bonds or loan capital You must have invested either (i) within 3 months of you entering into the UK or (ii) within 3 months of the date of your grant or leave to remain or (iii) no earlier than 12 months before the time you make an application’ You have kept the amount of investment for the entire period of your leave.
Tier 1 Investor visa granted on or after 29 March 2019
If you successfully applied for your Tier 1 Investor visa on or after the 29 March 2019 to be eligible for an extension, you should fulfil the following: You must have invested £2 million or more in a UK registered company through share capital or loan capital You must have invested either (i) within 3 months of you entering into the UK as a Tier 1 Investor and your date of entry must be established or (ii) in 3 months of the date of the initial grant or leave to remain as a Tier 1 Investor; or (iii) no earlier than 12 months before the date of the application which led to the first grant of leave as a Tier 1 Investor You have provided the amount of investment for the whole of the remaining period of your leave.
